Flatwaves is a Philadelphia-based band that's a heavy amalgam of the immersive textures of 90s shoegaze with the raw energy of rock 'n' roll and the psychedelic swirl of fuzzed-out garage rock. Since 2018, they’ve been defying genres with hypnotic guitar layers, driving rhythms, and cavernous vocals, sonically checking influences like The Black Angels, Nothing, Cloakroom, and Dum Dum Girls. Their intense live shows deliver an enveloping celestial wall of sound while retaining a visceral and unfiltered edge. It was definitely said best by one show-goer: “Thank God I wasn’t on acid for that set.”

The band released their debut LP, Numbra, in 2022 on Philly’s own Abandon Everything Records, described as a “psychedelic wasteland.” Lindsay Hernandez, WHIP Radio. They followed up with a split single, released with the band Varlots, entitled “Seam,” which was recorded at The Cave Studio in Los Angeles, engineered by Josiah Mazzaschi (Motorhome, Bizou, Light FM, Child Seat), and produced by Jeff Schroeder (formerly of The Smashing Pumpkins and Lassie Foundation). Their second LP, Tell Me Secrets, released July 11, 2025 on Abandon Everything Records, continues the band’s explorations of death and disorientation.
